Ingredients
Scale
- 6 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined. Gently stir in the buttermilk until a smooth batter forms.
- Step 3: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Step 4: Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The cobbler should be golden brown on top.
- Step 5: Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
- Store leftover cobbler in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a warm, gooey experience, reheat individual portions in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, or bake a larger slice in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
- Elevate your cobbler by serving it with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a sprinkle of chopped pecans for added texture and flavor.
- To prevent the cobbler from becoming too dry, avoid overmixing the batter; a few lumps are perfectly acceptable.
