Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup whole garlic cloves, peeled
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh oregano
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic cloves and cook, stirring frequently, until they are golden brown and fragrant (about 5-7 minutes). Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Step 2: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the parsley, oregano, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Step 3: Let the sauce cool slightly. The flavors will meld better if it rests for at least 15 minutes.
- Step 4: Once cooled, you can either blend the sauce using an immersion blender for a smoother consistency or leave it chunky for a more rustic feel. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Step 5: Pour the garlic sauce generously over your favorite pizza after it has been baked. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, the flavors will deepen over time!
- For perfectly reheated sauce, gently warm it in a double boiler or microwave in short bursts to avoid scorching the garlic's delicate flavor.
- Drizzle extra sauce over crusty bread or grilled vegetables for an irresistible garlic kick alongside your pizza.
- To prevent the garlic from burning, use a low to medium heat and stir frequently; patience yields the best flavor!
