Delicious shrimp dirty rice: an amazing ultimate recipe recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and bell peppers; cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more, until fragrant.
  2. Step 2: Add rice and Cajun seasoning to the skillet; stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Step 3: Stir in diced tomatoes (undrained) and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  4. Step 4: Add shrimp to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until shrimp is pink and cooked through. Stir in smoked paprika.
  5. Step 5: Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Store leftover Shrimp Dirty Rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of water or broth if needed to maintain moisture.
  • Serve this vibrant dish with a side of crusty bread for sopping up the delicious sauce.
  • For extra flavor depth, toast the rice lightly in the olive oil before adding the other vegetables.
