Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, milk, and melted butter. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 4: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 5: Let the biscuit loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Serve warm with butter or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Store leftover biscuit loaf in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for longer storage.
- For perfectly warm biscuits, reheat slices in a toaster oven or microwave for a quick and easy boost of flavor.
- Serve warm alongside your favorite soup, chili, or salad for a complete and comforting meal.
- To achieve extra-fluffy biscuits, avoid overmixing the batter; a few lumps are perfectly fine.
