Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 (10 ounce) package marshmallows
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Step 2: Stir in the peanut butter, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.
- Step 3: Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and gently fold until evenly coated. Be careful not to crush the cereal.
- Step 4: Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 5: Using a greased spatula or your greased hands, gently press the mixture evenly into the dish. Do not pack too tightly.
- Step 6: Let cool completely before cutting into squares. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Store leftover treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain their chewy texture.
- While best enjoyed at room temperature, a quick 5-second zap in the microwave can revive a slightly hardened treat.
- Cut into squares and serve with a glass of cold milk for a nostalgic treat.
- For extra peanut butter flavor, try using a natural peanut butter, but stir it well before adding!
