- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 10 ounces mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Step 1: Grease a 9×13 inch pan with butter or cooking spray.
- Step 2: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and salt and stir constantly until completely melted.
- Step 3: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Step 4: Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and gently fold until evenly coated.
- Step 5: If using, gently fold in the mini chocolate chips.
- Step 6: Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and gently press down evenly. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Store leftover treats in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them soft and chewy.
- While not typically reheated, slightly softened treats can be microwaved for 5-10 seconds if desired.
- Cut into fun shapes with cookie cutters and serve at parties for a playful twist.
- For extra gooey treats, slightly under-melt the marshmallows, leaving a few small lumps before adding the other ingredients.
