Delicious garlic cauliflower mushroom skillet: quick & delicious dish recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower florets: 1 medium head (about 4 cups)
  • Cremini or Baby Bella mushrooms: 8 ounces (sliced)
  • Garlic cloves: 4 cloves (minced)
  • Unsalted Butter: 2 tablespoons
  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable broth or water: 1/4 cup
  • Kosher Salt and Black Pepper: 1 teaspoon total (to taste)
  • Fresh Parsley or Thyme: 1 tablespoon (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat the olive oil and butter in a large, deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the cauliflower florets and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they begin to brown lightly on the edges.
  2. Step 2: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, allowing the mushrooms to release their moisture and brown slightly.
  3. Step 3: Stir in the minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let the garlic burn. Pour in the vegetable broth (or water).
  4. Step 4: Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the skillet immediately. Allow the cauliflower to steam for 3-5 minutes, or until it is fork-tender.
  5. Step 5: Remove the lid and increase the heat back to medium-high to evaporate any remaining liquid. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning if needed. Remove the skillet from heat, stir in the fresh parsley or thyme, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; while the flavor remains excellent, be aware the cauliflower texture will soften upon cooling.
  • For best results, reheat servings in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until warmed through, avoiding the microwave to maintain the cauliflower's preferred crisp-tender integrity.
  • Serve this savory skillet immediately as a robust, satisfying side dish alongside grilled chicken or fish, or toss it with cooked quinoa or brown rice for a complete vegetarian main course.
  • Chef's Tip: To guarantee beautiful browning on your cauliflower in Step 1, ensure the skillet is hot and avoid overcrowding; if you are doubling the recipe, sauté the cauliflower in two separate batches.
