Garlic Bread meets Grilled Cheese perfection. We butter Texas Toast with a fresh garlic-parsley spread, achieving peak golden crispness and gooey mozzarella melt.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Thick-sliced bread (e.g., Texas Toast or Sourdough): 4 slices
  • Unsalted butter (softened): 1/2 cup
  • Low-moisture mozzarella cheese (sliced or shredded): 1 cup or 4 slices
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, finely minced
  • Fresh parsley (finely chopped): 1 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese (grated): 1 tablespoon
  • Salt and black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon each

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the garlic butter mixture by combining the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are fully incorporated into a uniform spread.
  2. Step 2: Assemble the sandwiches: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture onto the outer sides of all four slices of bread (these will be the grilling surfaces). Flip two slices over and place the mozzarella cheese on the unbuttered sides.
  3. Step 3: Complete the sandwiches by topping the cheese with the remaining two slices of bread (garlic butter side facing outward). Ensure the cheese is fully contained within the slices.
  4. Step 4: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches in the hot skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on the first side, checking frequently to ensure the bread is golden and not burning.
  5. Step 5: Flip the sandwiches carefully and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and gooey.
  6. Step 6: Remove the Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese from the skillet, let it rest for 1 minute, then slice diagonally and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, store pre-made garlic butter spread tightly covered in the fridge for up to a week, then spread and grill the sandwiches fresh when the craving hits.
  • If you have leftovers, reheat them briefly in a toaster oven or air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for about 5 minutes to restore the perfect outer crunch.
  • Elevate this cheesy classic by serving hot alongside a small cup of warm marinara dipping sauce or the traditional pairing of creamy roasted tomato soup.
  • Resist the urge to crank the heat; cooking slowly over medium-low ensures the mozzarella completely melts before the high-fat garlic butter crust has a chance to burn.
