Delicious fireworks sugar cookies recipe recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Assorted food coloring gels (red, blue, green, etc.)
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Step 3: Divide the dough into several bowls. Add a different food coloring gel to each bowl, mixing until the desired color is achieved. For a marbled effect, gently swirl different colored doughs together.
  4. Step 4: Roll out each colored dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters (stars, circles, etc.) to cut out shapes. Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheets.
  5. Step 5: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Step 6: Once cooled, decorate the cookies with sprinkles.

Notes

  • Store your Fireworks Sugar Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze them for longer storage.
  • For a delightful warm cookie experience, gently reheat individual cookies in the microwave for 5-10 seconds.
  • Serve these festive cookies at your next party or celebration, arranging them on a platter for a dazzling display.
  • To prevent the cookies from spreading too thin during baking, make sure your butter is softened but not melted, and chill the dough for 15 minutes before cutting out shapes.
