Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (14.3 ounces) graham crackers, finely crushed
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the crushed graham crackers and melted butter. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
- Step 3: In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and sweetened condensed milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Step 4: Pour the brown sugar mixture evenly over the graham cracker crust.
- Step 5: Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped pecans over the brown sugar layer.
- Step 6: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the topping is bubbly and lightly browned. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
- For the best flavor and texture, store your turtle bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- If you want a warm, gooey treat, microwave individual bars for about 10-15 seconds before serving.
- Serve these decadent bars with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra special dessert.
- Be sure to stir the brown sugar and sweetened condensed milk constantly while cooking to prevent scorching and ensure a smooth caramel layer.
