Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup (optional, for shine)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer until smooth and well combined.
- Step 2: Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition.
- Step 3: Add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix on medium speed until light and fluffy. If using, add the corn syrup and mix until combined.
- Step 4: If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
- Step 5: Frost your cake, cupcakes, or other treats immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- If your frosting has become too stiff after refrigeration, let it sit at room temperature for a short time, then rewhip with a mixer until fluffy.
- This peanut butter frosting is delightful on chocolate cupcakes or brownies, complementing their rich flavor.
- For an extra smooth and shiny frosting, be sure to thoroughly cream together the butter and peanut butter in the initial step.
