Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Lasagna noodles: 9-12 (oven-ready or regular)
- Ricotta cheese: 15 ounces
- Mozzarella cheese: 2 cups, shredded
- Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup, grated
- Spaghetti sauce: 24 ounces
- Egg: 1 large
- Dried parsley: 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain off any excess grease. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
- Step 3: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 4: Layer 3-4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. If using regular noodles, you may need to cook them according to package directions before layering.
- Step 5: Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, then sprinkle with 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers: sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Top with remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Step 6: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For easier slicing, let the lasagna cool for at least 20 minutes before serving to help it set properly.
- Store leftover lasagna in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat individual portions in the microwave or bake covered in the oven until warmed through, adding a splash of water if it seems dry.
- To boost the flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce while simmering for a subtle kick.
