Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Shredded iceberg lettuce: 8 cups
- Cheddar cheese, shredded: 1 cup
- Dill pickle slices, chopped: 1 cup
- Red onion, finely diced: 1/2 cup
- Thousand Island dressing: 1 cup
- Sesame seeds: 1 tablespoon
- Tomato, diced: 1 medium
Instructions
- Step 1: Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let cool slightly.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped dill pickles, diced red onion, and diced tomato.
- Step 3: Add the cooked and cooled ground beef to the salad mixture.
- Step 4: Pour the Thousand Island dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine all ingredients.
- Step 5: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of the salad before serving. Serve immediately or chill for later.
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store leftover salad and dressing separately in airtight containers and combine just before serving.
- Reheating isn't recommended for this salad, but the beef alone can be warmed up for another use.
- Serve your Big Mac Salad with toasted sesame seed buns on the side for a fun, deconstructed burger experience.
- To mimic that classic Big Mac flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika and garlic powder to your ground beef while browning.
