Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for greasing)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil.
- Step 2: In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, add flour all at once, and stir vigorously until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Step 3: Remove from heat and let the dough cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. The dough will be smooth and pipe-able.
- Step 4: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe small bite-sized churro shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 5: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Step 6: While the churro bites are baking, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Once the churro bites are out of the oven and still warm, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftover churro bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, though they're best enjoyed fresh!
- Reheat slightly cooled churro bites in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for a few minutes to restore their crispness.
- Serve these warm with a side of chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for a truly decadent treat!
- For extra airy churro bites, ensure the dough cools slightly before adding the eggs, preventing them from scrambling.
