Delicious crispy pan-fried dumplings: a homemade delight recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground pork: 1 pound
  • Napa cabbage, finely chopped: 1 cup
  • Green onions, thinly sliced: 1/2 cup
  • Ginger, minced: 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
  • Wonton wrappers: 40-50

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped Napa cabbage, green onions, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Step 2: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Put a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger. Fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape, pressing firmly to seal the edges. You can pleat one side for a more traditional look. Repeat until all the filling is used.
  3. Step 3: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange the dumplings in a single layer in the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd them.
  4. Step 4: Cook the dumplings for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  5. Step 5: Pour 1/2 cup of water into the skillet, then immediately cover it with a lid. Reduce the heat to medium and let the dumplings steam for 8-10 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the wrappers are translucent.
  6. Step 6: Remove the lid and continue to cook the dumplings for another 1-2 minutes, or until the bottoms are crispy again. Serve immediately with soy sauce and vinegar for dipping.

Notes

  • For best flavor, store leftover cooked dumplings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat leftover dumplings by pan-frying them in a little oil with a splash of water to re-crisp the bottoms and steam the insides.
  • Serve these delicious dumplings with a simple dipping sauce of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a dash of chili oil for an extra kick.
  • Don't skip the cornstarch in the filling; it helps bind the ingredients and keeps your dumplings juicy!
