Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts, 1 pound, trimmed and halved
- Turkey bacon, 6 slices, chopped
- Maple syrup, 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon
- Salt, 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes, 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped turkey bacon and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
- Step 2: Add the halved Brussels sprouts to the skillet with the bacon fat. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Step 3: Cook the Brussels sprouts, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and slightly browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Step 4: Stir in the maple syrup and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the Brussels sprouts to caramelize slightly.
- Step 5: Return the cooked turkey bacon to the skillet and toss everything together to combine.
- Step 6: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For best results, reheat in a skillet over medium heat to re-crisp the Brussels sprouts and bacon.
- Serve this dish as a flavorful side to roasted chicken or pork for a delightful combination of sweet and savory.
- Don't overcrowd the skillet with Brussels sprouts; cook in batches if needed to ensure proper browning and crispiness.
