Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup cottage cheese (low-fat or full-fat)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium bowl, thoroughly combine the cottage cheese, flour, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until a thick, cohesive dough forms. If it seems too wet, add a tablespoon or two of extra flour.
- Step 2: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the dough into desired shapes – squares, triangles, or circles work well.
- Step 3: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. The oil is ready when a small piece of dough dropped in sizzles immediately.
- Step 4: Carefully place the cottage cheese chips into the hot skillet, being careful not to overcrowd. Fry for approximately 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Step 5: Remove the cooked chips from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Step 6: Serve the crispy cottage cheese chips immediately. They are delicious on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce (like marinara or ranch).
Notes
- Store leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Reheat leftover chips in a dry skillet over medium-low heat for a minute or two, or until warmed through and crispy again.
- Serve these surprisingly addictive chips with a zesty sriracha mayo for an extra kick.
- For extra cheesy flavour, try adding a sprinkle of extra Parmesan cheese just before frying.
