Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, like pecans or almonds)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey/maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
- Step 2: Melt the chocolate chips using a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until completely melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Step 3: Gently fold the melted chocolate into the yogurt mixture. Then, gently fold in the cocoa powder and chopped nuts (if using).
- Step 4: Add the sliced strawberries to the yogurt mixture and gently fold to combine.
- Step 5: Line a small baking sheet or shallow dish with parchment paper. Using a spoon or a small cookie scoop, drop rounded spoonfuls of the yogurt mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 6: Freeze for at least 2-3 hours, or until solid. Once frozen, remove from the freezer and let sit for a few minutes before serving to slightly soften.
Notes
- Store these delightful bites in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two weeks.
- For a wonderfully gooey texture, let the frozen yogurt bites sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before enjoying.
- Serve these frozen treats as a refreshing post-workout snack or a decadent dessert alongside a cup of strong coffee.
- For extra intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips and add a pinch of sea salt to the yogurt mixture before freezing.
