Ingredients
Scale
- Mascarpone cheese 16 oz
- Heavy cream 1 cup
- Ladyfingers 24
- Amaretto liqueur 1/2 cup
- Fresh or frozen cherries 1 cup, pitted
- Granulated sugar 1/2 cup
- Almond extract 1 teaspoon
- Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the heavy cream and almond extract, and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Step 2: In a shallow dish, combine the amaretto liqueur with 1/4 cup water. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the amaretto mixture, ensuring they are lightly soaked but not soggy.
- Step 3: In a serving dish or individual dessert cups, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers. Spread a layer of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Step 4: Arrange the pitted cherries over the cream layer. Repeat layers of ladyfingers, cream, and cherries, ending with a layer of the mascarpone cream mixture.
- Step 5: Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Step 6: Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu generously with unsweetened cocoa powder.
Notes
- Store leftover tiramisu in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but be aware the ladyfingers will soften further over time.
- Because this dessert is served cold, there is no need for reheating!
- Garnish each serving with a few extra fresh cherries and a drizzle of amaretto for an elegant presentation.
- Chef's Tip: If using frozen cherries, thaw them completely and drain off any excess liquid before layering to prevent a soggy tiramisu.
