Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (60g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ¾ cups (350g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 ¾ cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and ½ cup of granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Step 4: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Spread evenly. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Swirl the cream cheese mixture gently into the brownie batter using a knife or toothpick, creating a marbled effect. Top with the remaining brownie batter and spread evenly.
- Step 5: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely before cutting and serving.
Notes
- Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- For a warm, gooey experience, reheat individual brownie slices in the microwave for 15-20 seconds.
- Serve these decadent brownies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
- To prevent the cream cheese swirls from sinking completely, ensure both the brownie batter and cream cheese mixture are at a similar, slightly cool temperature before combining.
