Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1–2 red chillies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce (your favourite)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped chillies, olive oil, BBQ sauce, lemon juice, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
- Step 2: Add the peeled and deveined prawns to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Gently toss to coat all the prawns. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator for maximum flavour.
- Step 3: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Step 4: Carefully place the marinated prawns onto the preheated grill. Grill for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque and are cooked through. Avoid overcooking, as prawns can become tough.
- Step 5: Once cooked, remove the prawns from the grill and serve immediately. Garnish with extra lemon wedges and fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Store leftover prawns in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat gently in a pan with a little olive oil, avoiding overcooking to maintain tenderness.
- Serve these succulent prawns on crusty bread with a side salad for a complete and flavourful meal.
- For extra smoky flavour, add a pinch of chipotle powder to the marinade before adding the prawns.
