Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large Russet potato, spiralized or cut into curly fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, toss the spiralized or curly fries with olive oil, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until evenly coated.
- Step 3: Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not overcrowded.
- Step 4: Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
- Step 5: While the fries are baking, warm the applesauce in a small saucepan or microwave.
- Step 6: Remove the fries from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve immediately with warm applesauce for dipping. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Store leftover fries in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain some crispness.
- For best results, reheat the fries in a preheated air fryer or oven to re-crisp them.
- Serve these fries as a fun appetizer or a sweet and savory side dish with grilled chicken or pork.
- For a richer flavor, try adding a pinch of cardamom to the spice mix!
